On the Boards: Butterfly Park

Butterfly Park serves as a node in Windler’s pedestrian parkway network and celebrates the connection between people and nature. As the highest point in the Windler Community, it has lines of sight to the larger Community Park and great views to Longs Peak. The proposed landscape design draws inspiration from nature and outdoor amenities are incorporated into the site with organic flowing forms.

Large scale art and interactive play areas invite users to meander the pollinator gardens with discoveries around every corner, and the themed playground makes the sensory experience even more exciting with larger-than-life bee, butterfly, and cocoon play structures. The ¼ mile internal loop path provides trail access for different uses, eventually connecting to the larger Windler Community Park, while a large open lawn and amphitheater encourage community gatherings for outdoor concerts, events, or movies in the park.
