Project Spotlight: Green Gables

Green Gables is a master planned community located in Lakewood, Colorado that has been designed and developed around the concept of “Legacy Forward.” The idea behind the concept was to honor the history, character, and intrinsic beauty of the location—its rolling terrain, vast array of trees, and trails that have been enjoyed for decades. This provided the guiding foundation for combining a deep sense of respect for the environment with an enthusiastic focus on the future.

One major component of “Legacy Forward” was the preservation of and addition to the original golf course halfway house, which closed in 2011 after 83 years in existence. Our team prepared initial design concepts and, in collaboration with Studio DH, remodeled the existing structure and enlarged its eastern side, successfully preserving the site’s history while also providing residents with a community gathering hub that features an outdoor pool, patio, and fire pit. Implementing the “Legacy Forward” concept at Green Gables elevated the inherent attributes of the site by preserving its cherished elements and fostering the greatest enduring value for the community—then, now, and for years to come.
