PCS Gives September
For PCS Gives September Matt Norcross chose The Park People, a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working with communities to plant trees and improve parks for a healthy, resilient future. The Park People was created in 1969 by a small group of park enthusiasts who banded together to raise private funds to support Denver's extensive parks and recreation system. In their 50+-year history, The Park People has infused many millions of dollars into Denver's parks through the restoration of existing park infrastructure, such as fountains and historic park buildings, and through new construction, such as playgrounds and recreation facilities.
Recently, The Park People launched a workforce program called the TreeForce to address the worker shortage crisis currently facing Denver’s urban tree care sector and provide a career path for those interested in the growing field of urban forestry. Launching as a pre-apprenticeship in 2022, TreeForce will prepare adults that face barriers to employment for meaningful career paths with family-supporting wages.
