project progress: mapleton hill
The Academy Mapleton Hill is a world-class, continuum care facility hosting independent and assisted living, rehabilitation therapy, and memory care. Located at the center of the most desirable neighborhood in Boulder, on a 14-acre sloped site sitting at the base of Mount Sanitas, The Academy Mapleton Hill provides luxurious senior living in a breathtaking setting.
Site amenities include a therapy pool, centrally located Village Green, courtyards designed to accommodate each level of care, and extensive landscaped grounds for walking, gardening, relaxing, and interacting with guests and fellow residents. Programming for the Village Green has been designed to incorporate a mix of active and passive uses, including picnic areas, seating, walking, and a common greenspace for gatherings or events. The space encourages multi-generational activity and hosts playscape site furnishings that are both artistic and sculptural in nature to inspire children of all ages to play, climb, and explore. The largest vertical feature on the site is the old incinerator smokestack which stands approximately 128’ tall. This semi-iconic chimney is being preserved and incorporated into the design as the presiding anchor of the space. Other elements such as the covered trellis and patio space play off this feature and are meant to serve as an inherent wayfinding element for residents and visitors to meet.
Construction will continue in three different phases throughout the site with the memory care facility, rehabilitation facility, and independent living cottages to follow. Build-out for the community is anticipated to be completed between the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026.
