Tenacity: Women in Conservation 2023

On March 15th PCS Group Associate Landscape Designer Shahla Bowen attended Tenacity: Women in Conservation 2023, an event presented by the Palmer Land Conservancy, at The Pinery in Colorado Springs. The centerpiece of the event was an on-stage conversation with Dawn DiPrince - Executive Director of History Colorado, Jackie Miller - Executive Director of Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), and Becky Mitchell- Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Here's what Shahla had to say about the event:

“I enjoyed meeting people in Colorado Springs at the meet and greet held before the conversation. There were women in many different types of fields that were interested in conservation, ranging from real estate to gardening clubs. The speakers were very thoughtful, knowledgeable, and relatable when addressing challenges that women face in leadership, how to be conservation leaders, and the importance and impact of natural spaces for communities and families. It was really inspiring to know that women have been at the forefront of efforts to address natural resource access and protection for many different communities throughout Colorado. I also enjoyed hearing about how looking to the past can solve some of our current environmental issues, with evidence of local communities preserving their treasured outdoor resources, which tied into the many opportunities for preserving them for future generations.”
