For PCS Gives January Camran Kazemian chose The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit founded in 2013 that aims to rid the ocean of trash and plastic waste. Their team consists of a variety of engineers, researchers, scientists, and crewmen who develop and scale technologies capable of capturing and removing plastic/waste from both oceans and rivers. Their goal is to not only remove over 90% of the pollution from oceans and rivers by 2040 but to also prevent the use of virgin plastic materials through education and advocacy for recycled materials. Ultimately the OCP hopes to go out of business once their targets for cleanup have been reached.
